You are cordially invited to join HE Ms Asta Skaisgirytė, Ambassador for Lithuania in the United Kingdom, and members of the Lithuanian community in London for a commemorative screening of the Lithuanian film “The Excursionist” on Tuesday
23 June 2015 in the Auditorium.
One of the most ambitious Lithuanian productions of recent years, “The Excursionist” is an inspiring true story taken from a dark period in the nation’s history. It takes place after WWII when, in the Stalinist Soviet Union, hundreds of thousands of Lithuanians were deported from the country. This is the tale of one orphaned girl who escapes from a transport train to begin the trek back home. It will begin punctually at 18.00 – but do plan to join us earlier from 17.00 for a drinks reception.
Special guests will include film director Audrius Juzenas who will discuss the film with Phillip Bergson, BBC film critic, in a brief interview after the film. There will also be time for a Q&A session with the audience.
