20 April, 2010. The new initiative by the London Book Fair this year, The Literary Translation Centre, brings together the publishing, translation and promotion communities to stimulate, inspire and raise the profile of literary translation in the UK. One of the centre's seminars “Making Translations Happen” will provide help and advice for translation and publishing books from various European countries, including Lithuania. The seminar will focus on how to choose the books for translation, how to get these books translated, how to fund translations and to promote them. The seminar will take place on 20 April, 11.30am-12.30pm at the Literary Translation Centre, The London Book Fair.  

The Literary Translation Centre provides a space in which to network giving translators, publishers, students, authors and agents the opportunity to benefit from expert advice in seminars covering all different aspects of translation.

Supported by the British Centre for Literary Translation, English PEN, Literature Across Frontiers, The Translators Association, the British Council Literature Department, The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Arts Council England.

Information on Lithuanian books, reviews and on translation grants will be presented in collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy in London.

The fair is open for the publishing professionals. All visitors to The London Book Fair must register to attend either in advance or when they arrive at the fair. By registering in advance (before Monday 19th April 2010) you will benefit from a discount on the onsite entrance fee, paying just £25 for entrance over the full three days of the fair.
