Bradford University to Award Honorary Degree to Leonidas Donskis Ph.D
19 July, 2011. Bradford University, UK will award the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters to Prof. Leonidas Donskis, Lithuanian politician, active public figure and academic.

After becoming a member of the European Parliment in 2009, Prof. Donskis has remained in close contact with Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania, and is still actively involved in its activities. He visits and reads lectures at the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy, and grants scholarships to authors of the best Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree theses, actively supporting the Olympics of Politology.
In 2004, Prof. Leonidas Donskis, philosopher, political theorist and commentator, historian of ideas and a social analyst, advocate for human rights and civil liberties, and a prominent public figure, was awarded the title of Ambassador for Tolerance and Diversity in Lithuania by the European Commission, for the propagation of tolerance and equal opportunity. In 2008, Donskis received the Orange-Nassau Order Commander’s Cross of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Prof. Donskis is a public intellectual who has worked in the universities and advanced research centres of the USA, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Hungary, as well as written more than 20 books and over 500 articles general and academic press in Lithuania and abroad. Amongst his many literary accomplishments he has founded and is the executive editor of an academic book series on Baltic studies, the only one of its kind in Europe and the world; ‘On the Boundary of Two Worlds’.
