I. Basic requirements for all applicants for a visa irrespective of the purpose of travel

  1. Visa fee when applicable.
  2. Travel Medical Insurance, which shall cover the entire period of the intended stay, be valid for all Schengen States and cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgency medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay. The minimum coverage must be 30.000 EUR.

If a bank covers you while abroad, a recent letter from the bank stating that the above conditions are fulfilled must be provided.

Please be advised that the 'E111-form' or its successor, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), is not an adequate travel insurance.

II. Documentation allowing for the assessment of your intention to leave the territory of the Member States 

  1. Proof of confirmed and fully paid return ticket to the United Kingdom or to the country of final destination. If travelling by car, ferry tickets must be fully paid and showing all ports of entry and re-entry. Originals and copies of car registration and insurance documents must also be provided.
  2. Last 3 months current account UK bank statement (original and copy) in your name and address showing details and a balance proving that you have sufficient means of subsistence both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to the United Kingdom or your country of origin, amounting to a minimum of € 40 (approx. GBP 34) per day or
    - traveller’s cheques showing the same as above.

If you are financially supported by your wife/husband (for example if you do not work himself/herself), please also provide a marriage certificate and the wife's/husband's bank statements.
Please note that cash is not accepted as proof of sufficient means.

  1. General employment: recent (not older than one month), official and signed original letter from employer (headed letter with name, position of signatory and date of issue, address, recent telephone number and registration number in the United Kingdom) and payslips for the last 3 months.

Please note contracts of employment are not accepted.

  1. Self-employment. Recent original letter from accountant, banker or solicitor (official headed letter with name, date of issue, address, recent telephone number and position of signatory and registration number in the United Kingdom) stating self-employment or business ownership in the United Kingdom, and letter from the tax authorities.
  2. Students. Recent (not older than one month), official and signed original letter from United Kingdom school, college or university stating date of issue, name of the applicant and type of studies and number of lessons (hours) per week and attendance record.
  3. Unemployed. Social benefit entitlement letter.

III. Documents to be submitted depending on the purpose of travel

  • Business:
    • a recent and signed formal invitation by fax (showing fax transmission details), or original by post, on official company letterhead from your business partner in Lithuania stating the kind of business, duration of the business trip(s) and a confirmation of guarantee for the costs of the stay, if applicable, or
    • an invitation from a firm or an authority to attend meetings, conferences, proof of registration, or events connected with trade, industry or work;
    • other documents which show the existence of trade relations or relations for work purposes;
    • entry tickets or registration for fairs and congresses.
  • Study or professional training:
    • a certificate of enrolment at an educational establishment (school, university, college, etc) for the purposes of attending vocational or theoretical courses within the framework of basic and further training;
    • student card or certificate of the courses to be attended;
    • documents in relation to accommodation, or proof of sufficient means to cover the accommodation.
  • Tourism:
    • confirmed hotel booking in your name for full stay in the Schengen area or any other appropriate document stating the planned accommodation.
  • Private (family-friends) visit:
  • Medical treatment:
    • an official document of the medical institution confirming necessity for medical care in that institution;
    • proof of sufficient financial means to pay for the medical treatment;
    • proof of prepayment of medical treatment.

IV. Particular requirements applying to minors (children below 18 years)

  • application must be signed by both parents (missing signature to be explained by attaching a letter of consent by the absent parent and certified copy of passport);
  • original birth certificate and its copy;
  • original passports from both parents and copy of information pages;
  • a letter of consent from both parents authorising a child to travel and stay in Lithuania and appointing the person who will be responsible for him/her;
  • if one parent has sole custody or a residence order for the child, documents verifying this, certified translations if necessary and copies are required.

All supporting documentation must clearly show the name and address of the person making the visa application.

Documents printed from websites or email must clearly show the website address, link or URL from where the document originated.
