Lost your passport or identity card?
Lost your passport or identity card?
If your passport or identity card has been lost or stolen, we recommend reporting the loss or theft to the local police. This may help you avoid any difficulties if someone else subsequently attempts to use your lost or stolen document unlawfully.
UK police officers cannot declare a lost or stolen Lithuanian passport or identity card invalid. To have your document declared invalid, you must visit the Embassy in person and submit a completed and signed notification of loss.
IMPORTANT: Notifications of lost or stolen documents cannot be submitted by post, telephone or email.
You can also report the loss of a Lithuanian passport or identity card by logging into the electronic migration services system, MIGRIS. The notification can be submitted at any time of day, so there is no need to visit the Embassy. The lost document will immediately be declared invalid, reducing the risk of it being used unlawfully.
Please note that UK authorities sometimes return Lithuanian passports or identity cards that have been found. Therefore, before declaring your document invalid, we recommend contacting the Embassy to check whether your lost document has been received.
Document submission
- You do not need to make an appointment at the Embassy to have a Lithuanian passport or identity card declared invalid. The Embassy’s consular opening hours can be found here.
- If you have lost your Lithuanian passport or identity card and wish to travel to Lithuania, the Embassy can issue you an EU Emergency Travel Document. You must make an appointment in advance (e-Registration) and complete an application form through MIGRIS. For more information, please click here.
- If you wish to obtain a new passport instead of your lost Lithuanian passport or identity card, you must make an appointment in advance (e-Registration) and submit the required documents.
PLEASE NOTE: If a child under the age of 16 has lost their passport, one of the child’s parents must accompany the child to the Embassy when applying for a new passport. The parent must present their own passport or identity card.
