„You am I“ at the New Europe Film Festival in Edinburgh
The second edition of the New Europe Film Festival (April 4-13) presents 12 films from the Eastern and Central Europe, among them also Lithuanian film directed by Kristijonas Vildžiūnas „You am I“ (2006), which will be screened on 7 April, 6 pm at the Edinburgh Filmhouse Cinema.

The film is a contemporary tale about an architect-dreamer building a futurist house in a tree, within a gloomy forest. His determination to create a new model of life has to go through various trials. Courage, sincerity and simplicity help him to acquire „half the kingdom and the princess‘s heart“ like in fairy tales. The sense of happiness is there until the dream about it is alive.
The film has recieved numerous awards, in 2006 it was also part of the official programme „Un certain regard“ at the International Cannes Film Festival.
Accoding to the organizer of the New Europe Film Festival Jan Naszewski, „this year we tried to show Eastern and Central Europe through the eyes of young people – the world seen by the generation of new Europeans is bizarre, confusing and sometimes scary“. However slow and contemplative Lithuanian story should stand out for its beauty and lyricism.
The project has been supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
