VERONIKA KOPJOVA AND VASHTI HUNTER GIVE A CONCERT IN LONDON
Germany based duo Veronika Kopjova (Lithuania) and Vashti Hunter (United Kingdom) are going to perform in Burgh House, London, 18 February, 7.30 pm. Rapidly progressing and actively performing duo is going to present some of the greatest pieces from cello and piano repertoire. The programme combines music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitri Shostakovich and Claude Debussy.
The Swedish Press praised the duo saying: “Veronika and Vashti plays straight into the hearts of the audience”.
Lithuanian pianist V. Kopjova and british cellist V. Hunter started playing together in 2010, after meeting at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater, Hannover, where they both are studying in the postgraduate solo performance course ‘soloklasse’. Performers have played together in Cologne, Marktoberdorf, Hannover, Burgh House in London, Eastbourne Concert Hall in UK, Amsterdam as part of the 2008 Cello Biennale, Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Sweden and at the National House of Vinohrady in Prague.
Individually they have won prizes in international competitions such as ‘Prague Spring’ Cello Competition, Haydn Chamber Music Competition (Vienna), Joachim Chamber Music Competition (Weimar), M. K. Ciurlionis Piano Competition (Vilnius) and Bechstein Piano Competition (Hannover), „Premio Piano Frenchilla-Zulloaga“ and „Ciudad de San Sebastian“ (Spain).
Together they had an opportunity to work with Hatto Beyerle, Alexander Rudin, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Torleif Thedeen, Raphael Wallfisch, Susan Tomes, Richard Lester, Marcin Sieniawski (Szymanowski Quartet), Markus Groh, Ewa Kupiec and Leonid Gorokhov.
