TOUR TO TRADE FAIR FOR TOURISM, SPORT AND LEISURE IN LITHUANIA
Lithuanian Tourism Information Office Centre deals with the UK travel trade, travel writers and travel editors. It would be happy to help the trade here to establish contacts with their Lithuanian opposite numbers. In this connection we are inviting participation in the tour to the Trade Fair of Tourism, Sport and Leisure “Vivattur 2007”. It takes place from March 2-4 this year. “Vivattur” is the biggest international tourism trade fair in Lithuania. This year will be the 13TH Fair. In this fair Lithuanian cities, tourism information centres, associations, travel organisers and agencies will present their tourism services. Hotels, transport services and events organisers will also participate.
Last year there were almost 200 Lithuanian exhibitors in this fair. More information about “Vivattur 2007”: www.visusplenus.lt
The Lithuanian Tourism Information Centre is recommending a visit this fair to find new contacts, new places, and new activities in Lithuania, which can all be useful for organizing tours there.
Also Kaziuko muge – The traditional folk arts and crafts fair will held at the same time, from March 2-4, in the old town of Vilnius, the capital. It is an annual Lithuanian folk crafts fair dating back to the beginning of the 17th century. As the fair is traditionally held on the Sunday nearest to St. Casimir's Day, March 4, the day St. Casimir, the parton saint of Lithuania died, it is popularly referred to as Kaziukio mugė. It is more like a festival of folk art and crafts, music and dance, and attracts tens of thousands of people, and many craftsmen from all over the country. It is one of the most exciting fairs in Vilnius, so you can visit this fair also.
As part of a tour to “Vivattur 2007”, it is possible include visits to hotels, guest houses and restaurants in Vilnius and its surroundings.
So please let us know if you are interested in this tour for tour operators and travel agents to “Vivattur 2007” and contact us for more details. The special rates of plain tickets and accommodation will be proposed for you.
Individual arrangements can also be made where these are more appropriate. The Centre will be happy to organise an individual tour for all travel trade representatives who are interested in Lithuania and continue to work with this country or for those would like to start.
The number of British visitors to Lithuania keeps growing every year. During the period from January to September 2006, a total of 31,800 tourists from Great Britain were provided with accommodation in Lithuanian hotels and guest-houses, or 23% more than during the same period last year. In 2005, 33,000 guests from Great Britain were accommodated in Lithuania, 44.8 % more than in 2004.
British tourists are mostly interested in cultural tourism (major cities, museums) and business tourism. At the same time, conference tourism and recreational tourism are also becoming more popular. The leisure market divides between those who spend a long weekend in Vilnius and those who spend a week or so in the whole country. We hope that those planning city breaks may well in fact stay longer and that those already planning a serious tour of Lithuania will give it the ten days to two weeks that it really deserves.
