The Second British Lithuanian Charity Gala in London

 At the Second British Lithuanian Charity Gala in London more than 250 thousand litas was raised for disadvantaged children in Lithuania. The same amount of money was promissed by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science as well as Jurbarkas, Pagegiai, Silale and Taurage district municipalities. According to the Lithuanian Department of Statistics the greatest number of deprived large families live in Tauragė County: districts of Šilalė, Jurbarkas, Pagėgiai and Tauragė. The money raised during the evening will be used to organise summer camps with sports and cultural progammes for the County‘s deprived children.

 

Lithuanian Ambassador Mr Vygaudas Usackas, the host of the evening greeted the guests and was happy that his idea of British Lithuanian Charity Gala was supported by such a large number of people two years in a row.

“My wish is that tonight’s spectacular programme would lift spirits, touch our hearts and demonstrate that by giving and sharing we can make a powerful change for good for children from disadvantage families in the Jurbarkas, Pagegiai, Silale and Taurage regions of Lithuania” – HE Mr Vygaudas Usackas said.
