The Schwings & Laura Budreckytė to perform at the Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival

The jazz band The Schwings together with the vocalist Laura Budreckytė will perform at the Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival on 9, 10 and 11 July. Project is supported by The Lithuanian Council for Culture in cooperation with the Music Information Centre.

The Schwings is an ensemble playing swing, gypsy and Brazilian jazz. The instrumental trio stands out for its authentic, original sound and its sincere communication with the audience. A pulsating rhythm, unusual instrument combinations, artistry, and a positive and lively performance - all these aspects define The Schwings.

Musicians: Remigijus Rančys - saxophones, melodion, percussion, Paulius Volkovas - guitar, Gediminas Svilas - double bass.

Singer Laura Budreckytė comes from the pleasant resort town of  Birštonas , the jazz mecca of Lithuania, home to the oldest international Jazz Festival in Lithuania. In 2014 Laura graduated from the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy with a master‘s degree in vocal jazz studies. She became 1st place winner and best free programme performer at the Jazz Voices competition in Klaipėda (Lithuania, 2012), and won the Grand Prix at the international Riga Jazz Stage competition (Latvia, 2013).

The 31st Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival runs July 3-12 with 177 live performances in 78 venues, 12 music workshops, two talks, three dance sessions, a record fair, two exhibitions of photographs – and almost all of it free.
