THE RESPONSE OF THE INDEPENDENT DEPUTY MANAGING EDITOR WILL GORE TO THE AMBASSADOR'S OPEN LETTER

The Independent Deputy Managing Editor Will Gore responded to the open letter sent by the Lithuanian Ambassador Mrs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė in reference to the offensive daily cartoon printed in the newspaper on 13 August 2013.
Mr Gore stated that the cartoon was absolutely not a criticism of Lithuania, of Lithuanians or of economic migrants to the UK - from Lithuania, eastern Europe or indeed anywhere else, but related to the recent controversial political debate on the subject of employing the migrant workers. He then expressed his huge regret that people had taken the offence at the cartoon.
