THE BALTIC WAY WAS REMEMBERED IN LONDON

It has been thirteen years since the nations of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia decided to mark the fifty years anniversary of Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, which had brought many sorrows to all three countries, by expressing unity and solidarity. Thus, on 23 August 1989 more than a million people formed a 600 km long human chain from Vilnius to Tallinn.

To mark this event, the Lithuanian Youth Association in the United Kingdom organised a traditional gathering of Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians in the Hyde Park. Unfortunately, an extremely heavy rain interrupted the plans of many people willing to join the celebration, however, the flags could still be seen hanging in the midst of heavy rain.
