The Baltic Guitar Quartet at the Purcell Room in London

7 February, 2012. The Baltic Guitar Quartet is often presented as the leading guitar ensemble of the Baltic countries. Formed in 2004, the quartet includes young musicians from Lithuania and abroad who have established their reputation as winners of international competitions as well as solo artists. In February the quartet will give a concert at the Purcell Room, Southbank. With the music connected to the folklore and classical traditions of several countries including France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania and the Caribbean region, there should be anyone inspired. Further details and audio clips of their sparkling programme 'Dancing with Guitar' can be found here.

The BGQ (Sergej Krinicin, Saulius S. Lipčius, Zigmas Čepulėnas, Chris Ruebens) made its international debut in May, 2006 in Tallinn, Estonia. Since then they have been invited to play at the Iserlohn Guitar Symposium ’07, ’'08, ’09, ’11 (Germany), Bad Aibling “Seitensprünge"” festival ’07, ’08 (Germany), and have performed at major festivals and concert halls in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.

In December 2010, BGQ presented an original programme at the Berlin Philharmonic, where a part of the concert was performed together with double bass virtuoso Guy D. Tuneh. In September 2011 the BGQ were guests at the Flanders Festival, Ghent (Belgium).

Their concert at the Purcell Room is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Society in collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy. The concert has been supported by Taylor Wessing.
