Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis at the LSE

9 March, 6.30 pm., LSE. Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis will be visiting LSE and giving his perspective on the today's pressing events in the western world. “Europe's Growth as a Decline” is an examination of consequences of doubtful mentality, as growth in population figures and average living standards have not resulted in increased happiness. Growing frustration and crumbling myth of welfare state point to a crucial need to consider a new philosophy for life. Dr. Waltraud Schelkle, the moderator for the event, is a Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at the European Institute. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session.  


Prof. Landsbergis is a world-established Lithuanian conservative politician and Member of the European Parliament, formerly the first head of state of Lithuania after its independence declaration from the Soviet Union; Landsbergis holds honorary degrees from 10 universities all-around the world (Yale, Helsinki, Cardiff, Sorbonne etc.).
