Pianist Dmitrij Golovanov to perform at Vortex jazz club

Lithuanian jazz pianists Dmitrij Golovanov will perform at Vortex jazz club in London (11 Gillett Street, N16 8JN) on Tuesday, 16 February, 2016, 8 p.m. Golovanov will be joining Michelson Morley, one of the most promising British jazz bands, on their album launch.

Dmitrij Golovanov is a keyboard virtuoso, commanding both acoustic and electronic instruments. The piano player is not afraid of improvising, branching out the spectre of his music outside the frames of the genre. Dmitrij has won a number of international music competitions as well as being a semifinalist in the 2012 Montreux jazz competition and reaching the finals of the Rotterdam jazz competition. In 2014 Dmitrij released his debut album Me. The musician has performed with the most famous names in Lithuanian jazz and a variety of international jazz stars. Over the years, Dmitrij has acquired an in-depth knowledge of jazz traditions, allowing him to craft his own style, both musing and amusing, and always surprising.

After the release of their debut album Aether Drift in 2014, Michelson Morley have been called one of the most original and promising jazz bands in the United Kingdom. This year marks the release of the quartet’s second album Strange Courage.
