Peterborough Lithuanian awarded with the Order of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Star
23 January 2017. The Lithuanian Ambassador in the UK Asta Skaisgirytė during her working visit in Peterborough awarded Steponas Bronius Vaitkevičius with the Order of the Diplomatic Star, a distinction in the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service.
Throughout his 50 years of voluntary service a long-serving member of Peterborough Lithuanian Community Mr. Vaitkevičius held important positions in several organizations, including in the Knights of St Columba and the Scout association. In 2015 Mr. Vaitkevičius was awarded with Peterborough Civic Award for his Lifetime Achievements.
Ambassador Skaisgirytė commended Vaitkevčius on his lifetime achievements and on his role model integration into the local community.
Before returning to London, the diplomat met with the Lord Mayor of Peterborough David Sanders and Lithuanians living in Peterborough.
