Open Circle from Lithuania at the Pride of Place Theatre Festival
An original theatre laboratory Open Circle’from Vilnius, led by director Aidas Giniotis, will be part of the Further Upstix Pride of Place theatre festival in Alnwick, Northumberland. The work will be shown on Friday 4th April in Lindisfarne Annexe and on Saturday 5th April in the Studio, Alnwick Playhouse.

Young people, sitting in a circle among the audience, tell true stories from their childhood and their teens: their first loves, fights and kisses. By remembering their past and reviving the situations, the actors try to confess and speak the sincere language of theatre. Even though the viewers are present, the authors of the project characterise it as a theatre laboratory rather than a performance, since it is a constantly changing process.

In 2005 ‘Open Circle’ was awarded the Gold Stage Cross as the best Lithuanian theatre production for youth.
The work will be shown on Friday 4th April in Lindisfarne Annexe and on Saturday 5th April in the Studio, Alnwick Playhouse.
