OLYMPIC GAMES NEWS OF 27 JULY

Today, 27 July, Olympics Opening Ceremony starts at 9pm. Inspired by the ‘’British countryside’’, director Danny Boyle is going to turn the Olympic Stadium into a huge green place with meadows, rivers and forests. It is estimated that during four major events – Olympics and Paralympics opening and closing ceremonies - more than 15,000 participants are going to take part in order to perform spectacular shows. For that they are going to need more than 23,000 costumes.

The entire United Kingdom cannot wait for the Games to begin, the Prime Minister David Cameron says he is keeping his fingers crossed so that everything goes well and athletes from all over the world achieve impressive results.

The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite who has already arrived to London wishes exactly the same. In London she will participate in the Olympics Opening ceremony, observe the performance of the Lithuanian swimmer Giedrius Titenis and cheer with the rest of the spectators in the game of Lithuanian and Argentinean National Basketball Teams.

 

The Olympic games commence this weekend.

On 28 July, Saturday, the following games are taking place (local BST time):

Badminton – 8.30am, 12:30pm and 6:30pm participating A. Stapušaitytė.

Cycling (road) – 10.00am-4.15pm G.Bagdonas and R.Navardauskas 

Gymnastics – qualification competition 11:00am, 3:30pm and 8:00pm R. Guščinas

Rowing – 12.30pm M. Griškonis, R. Maščinskas + S.Ritter qualification competition at 10.30pm, D.Vištartaitė 1:20-2:00pm qualification competition

Swimming – qualification competition G.Titenis 12:12pm. If the perfomance is successful, semifinals 8:28pm.

 

On 29 July, Sunday, the following games are taking place (local BST time):

Basketball - 10.15pm Lithuania-Argentina

Badminton – 8.30am, 12:30pm and 6:30pm participating A. Stapušaitytė

Boxing - E.Kavaliauskas 69 kg and E.Petrauskas 60 kg 1:30 -4:30pm 8:30am-11:30pm.

Cycling (road) - R.Leleivytė 12:00pm – 4:15pm

Gymnastics – qualification competition  L.Švilpaitė  9:30am, 2:45pm and 8:00pm

Rowing - M. Griškonis 9:50am R.Maščinskas+ S.Ritter 9:30am D.Vištartaitė 10:10am

Swimming - R.Meilutytė 11:13-11:33am, if the performance is successful, the semifinals 7:47-7:55pm
