The Lithuanian Ambassador was welcomed with songs from his homeland when he visited North Beckton Primary School with Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales.

Welcomed by North Beckton Primary School head teacher, Manjit Rai, Mr Usackas toured the school with Sir Robin to discover how ways in which Lithuanian culture has been incorporated within the curriculum.
Sir Robin Wales said: "Visiting schools and listening to some of our fantastic choirs is a much loved part of my role as mayor. I am especially proud when we have the opportunity to showcase the borough's talents to guest dignitaries."
The diverse school, in which 39 different languages are spoken, has an active Lithuanian choir, led by teaching assistant Natalia Valiuliene. The group, which includes Lithuanian and non Lithuanian speakers, meets weekly, with their catalogue covering both English and Lithuanian songs.
Mr Usackas said: "I feel like I have visited the United Nations! It is a pleasure to see children from so many different nationalities in one school.
"I would like to thank Sir Robin for inviting me to Newham, and the North Beckton Primary choir for such a wonderful performance."
