New film by Deimantas Narkevičius screened at Tate Modern

16 April, 2010. The world premiere of eight new LUX/ICO Artists Cinema commissions by Gerard Byrne, Keren Cytter, Aurélien Froment, Amar Kanwar, Deimantas Narkevičius, Rosalind Nashashibi, Catherine Sullivan with Farhad Sharmini and Akram Zaatari will take place at Tate Modern, Starr Auditorium. Produced on 35mm, the films have been commissioned to individually intervene in cinema programmes across the UK, consciously responding to the cinema context, from April 2010. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Keren Cytter, Aurélien Froment and Deimantas Narkevičius, moderated by Ian White.

The project produced by LUX and the Independent Cinema Office with support from the National Lottery through Arts Council England Grants for Arts.

 

LUX is an arts agency which explores ideas around artists' moving image practice through exhibition, distribution, publishing, education and research.

 

The ICO promotes the exhibition of Artists' moving image work by offering a support service for organisations who wish to screen artists' moving image work, producing a range of complete touring programmes that can be screened in a variety of venues, and offering professional training aimed at developing curatorial and audience development skills. The ICO works in association with independent cinemas, film festivals, film societies and the regional and national screen agencies.
