On 23 October 2013, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania participated in the Honours Ceremony at the House of Lords, where a Lithuanian family Petras and Joana Andriuskevicius were recognised as the Righteous among the Nations for saving Frieda and Haim Volbe, and their three children, Haya, Moshe and Shimon, during the WWII.

“I believe that the lessons of history are immensely important for today's generation of democratic countries, Lithuania, UK and others. Education of the young generation is an on-going process. Therefore, those who have survived these terrible tragedies - and all of us - have a duty to let the world learn about the pain, suffering and death of those who did not survive. So that the Shoah would never happen again”, said the Lithuanian Ambassador.

As of January 2013, 844 persons in Lithuania were recognized as the Righteous among the Nations.  To leave a lasting memory of the bravery of our compatriots, new square in Vilnius Verkiai area will be called “the Righteous among the Nations square” and a street nearby will be called “Ona Šimaitė street”.
