Lithuanian virtuoso-pianist Kasparas Uinskas returns to Wigmore Hall

1 April, 2011. Lithuanian pianist Kasparas Uinskas, who has already made a number of successful debuts at renowned world stages, including New York Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Berlin Philharmonie, and London Wigmore Hall among others, is coming back to perform at Wigmore Hall. Uinskas will perform challenging masterpieces of romantic repertoire.

"It was a great pleasure to play for London audience three years ago and I'm looking forward to meeting this wonderful public again on 1st  April, 2011. For my recital at Wigmore Hall, I've prepared virtuosic and varied programme. Romantic music is closest to my heart. It expresses the deepest and most beautiful human emotions and passions, therefore the largest part of my recital will consist of Romantic music. I believe that every listener will find in these pieces something common and close." - Uinskas says.

Along with the bright Bach's fourth Partita, the recital program will consist of the masterpieces of four romantic 'giants' – Schumann, Rachmaninov, Chopin and Skryabin. Each of those composers represent different and unique face of romanticism. "I found a perfect selection for a perfect recital and I look forward to performing these treasures for a distinguished London audience," says Uinskas.

With the same programme Uinskas will later tour Spain, Poland and Lithuania.

After Uinskas’ New York debut Rorianne Schrade of the New York Concert Review stated: ̒Kasparas Uinskas has all the ingredients of a great pianist and musician… in his New York recital debut he offered much evidence of the talent that has garnered his impressive start on an international career…

The Berlin debut of Uinskas was reviewed by Antje Rößler in ̒Klassik in Berlin̓, who noted:"…The debut recital of Lithuanian pianist Kasparas Uinskas was far from another usual piano recital at the rich Berlin’s music scene… even though it was Uinskas’ debut recital in Berlin, this pianist is far from the beginning point of his artistic journey… his technique leaves nothing left to wish for and his interpretations overcome all expectations..."

Along with solo performances and collaborations with orchestras, Uinskas performs chamber music as well. He has been a guest soloist of many prestigious music festivals throughout Europe and the US, including the Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland), Holland Music Sessions (Holland), Aspen Music Festival (US), Music Festival of the Hamptons (US), and South Shore Music (US).  At the one of the most prestigious venues in Europe – Verbier Music Festival in Switzerland Uinskas was granted Reuter’s Grand Prix and with the invitation to  perform solo recital there next year. His repertoire includes a wide range of composers, from Johann Sebastian Bach to the 20th century composers, but Frédéric Chopin holds special significance.

Recent releases include Uinskas' debut CD of his Chopin recital in 2006 and the DVD of his live concert at the Berlin Philharmonie in 2009.

Uinskas was born in 1979 in Lithuania. He began studying the piano at the age of six, later studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Frédéric Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, Poland, and at the Juilliard School in New York, as a recipient of the Vladimir Horowitz Scholarship.

This summer (2010) Uinskas became an artistic director of the “New Musical Generation Summer Festival and Academy”. The festival invited outstanding musicians from ten countries, who gave concerts and taught academy students from all over the world.
