LITHUANIAN STARTUPS AIM TO ATTRACT €11 MILLION OF INVESTMENT AND ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UK
Lithuania, the country where Yplan, GetJar, Pixelmator were born, presents a bunch of freshly made and investor ready startups for London audience. 17 Best Lithuanian startups are launching the first ever hunt for foreign investors and partnership opportunities “Startup Lithuania Roadshow”, organized by governmental institution Enterprise Lithuania.
London is deliberately chosen as the final stop of the Roadshow, because this is a place where good examples and future millionaires merge. For example, Yplan is an app without which Londoners can’t imagine their everyday life. Co-founders at Yplan are Lithuanians and they are ready to guide freshly made startups from their homeland through UK. What is more, London is a place for startups highly evaluated in the 2012 rating of the organization “Startup Genome”. That is way Lithuanian startups, operating in the fields of finance, healthcare, 3D technologies and others, see a huge potential in partnership between UK and Lithuania.
The best Lithuanian startups will participate in Startup Lithuania Demo day at Google Campus in London on 5th of December. They will be pitching their ideas on stage in order to attract foreign investment and sign major business partnership.
It is the first time when such a bunch of Lithuanian startups are coming to London and meeting members of local startup ecosystem.
“Lithuanian startups have always been about the quality, but not quantity. The country is not only witnessing the development of mobile entertainment applications, but also of innovative solutions aimed at improving the quality of life. Venture capital funds, business accelerators operating in Lithuania and regular hackathons and other workshops provide a favorable environment for new startups from foreign countries establishing Lithuania as one of the Northern Europe regional tech-startup hubs. Even the project “Startup Lithuania Roadshow” involves Italians and an African resident, who have registered their business in Lithuania,” Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship of “Enterprise Lithuania” Dovydas Varkulevičius says.
The project participants pursue an ambitious goal – to attract €11 million of foreign investment and to present the Lithuanian startups ecosystem to foreign countries. TOP 17 Lithuanian startups were professionally selected for the Roadshow by local and international VCs, angel investors, accelerators and media representatives and trained by Lithuanian and foreign lecturers such as Beth Susanne, Gigi Wang, Frank M.Saviane.
Before coming to London, Lithuanian startups have already visited Tel Aviv, Berlin and Stockholm, local investors showed high interest in Lithuanian companies.
