LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE EU PROGRAMME PRESENTED IN CARDIFF

On 1 October 2013 the Ambassador of Lithuania to the UK Mrs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and her delegation visited Cardiff.  The programme of the visit included meetings with Mr David Melding, Deputy Presiding Officer in the National Assembly for Wales, Mr Carwin Jones, the First Minister of Wales and the lecture at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The Ambassador underlined that the priorities of the Lithuanian EU Presidency are focused on credible, growing and open Europe, creation of which is impossible to imagine without the participation of all EU citizens.

“The vital importance of trade links between Lithuania and Wales for the economic development, especially when considering implementation of programmes and projects in the area of innovation technologies” was highlighted during the meeting with representatives of the Welsh businesses.

A concert by the Lithuanian musicians Gleb Plyšniak (cello) and Dalia Dėdinskaitė (violin) was held at the Welsh National Assembly to conclude the programme of the visit.
