Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council programme was presented in Newcastle
On 10 -11 April 2013 Ambassador of Lithuania to the UK Mrs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and the delegation visited Newcastle in order to present the aims, priorities and the programme of the forthcoming Lithuanian presidency of the EU Council. The Ambassador delivered a speech entitled „The European Union: Quo Vadis? Lithuanian Presidency of the EU“ at the Newcastle University and answered a wide variety of questions.
The Ambassador, during her meetings with the Mayor of Newcastle Mrs Jacqueline Slesenger, the Mayor of North Tyneside Mrs Linda Arkley also discussed topics of bilateral and European cooperation.
“It was a great opportunity to use once more avenue to talk about the benefits of being in the European Union“, said the Ambassador. She also added that it was great to be welcomed with such enthusiastic interest in the current European affairs by the academia in the Newcastle University.
