Lithuanian pianist Kaspar Uinskas makes his London debut at Wigmore Hall on February 24

Kaspar Uinskas, a prominent Lithuanian pianist, makes his London debut with a piano recital on February 24 at Wigmore Hall. He will perform some of the most beautiful and challenging masterpieces of the piano repertoire, including works by Rachmaninov, Haydn, Chopin, Skryabin and Dvarionas, one of the most notable Lithuanian piano music composers.

“I found a perfect selection for a perfect recital and I look forward to performing these treasures for a distinguished London audience“, Uinskas says.

Kasparas Uinskas performs actively as a soloist and in chamber music concerts. Music critics find the young virtuoso‘s interpretation skills unique and point out to his rich arsenal of expression and fantasy and an exceptional ability to realise his vision effortlessly and precisely. He is frequent guest on the Lithuanian Radio and TV programmes. In 2007, he was featured on the Reflections from the Keyboard show on WQSR, The New York Times radio station for classical music.

Uinskas‘ repertoire includes a wide range of composers, from Johann Sebastian Bach to the 20th century composers, but Frédéric Chopin holds special significance. In 2006, a debut CD of Uinskas’ Chopin recital was released, which was highly praised by music critics.

The pianist’s special interest is promoting live classical music among young people. In autumn of 2006, Uinskas developed and ran a classical music educational programme in some 30 high schools in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. The project turned out a great success and was well received by students.

Uinskas was born in 1979 in Lithuania. He studied at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, Frédéric Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, Poland, and The Juilliard School in New York as a recipient of the Vladimir Horowitz Scholarship.  He was featured at famous music festivals throughout Europe and the US, including Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland), the Aspen Music Festival (US), the Music Festival of the Hamptons (US), the South Shore Music (US), Holland Music Sessions (the Netherlands) and others.

Highlights of his 2007/2008 concert season include debut recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in Washington DC, Wigmore Hall in London and Berlin’s Philharmonie.
