Lithuanian Jewish heritage presented in the Central Synagogue London
On 12th September the Central Synagogue London hosted the presentation of the Lithuanian Jewish heritage project “The Lost Shtetl”. The project, carried out by Šeduva Jewish Memorial Fund, is included in the prestigious list of European memorial sites compiled by the Berlin Holocaust Memorial Information Center.
“I am delighted that Litvak cultural heritage is being presented in London. The Lost Shtetl is a unique project on the European scale, a dedicated effort to educate future generations about Shedovian Jews“, ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė said.
The project was presented by Sergey Kanovich - the founder and the curator of the Sheduva Jewish Memorial Fund.
The key elements of the project include the restoration of the Old Jewish Cemetery in Šeduva, three monuments at mass murder sites, a monument for the Jews of Šeduva, the Šeduva Jewish Museum, “Lost Shtetl”, a historical monograph of Šeduva Jews, a documentary by Saulius Beržinis, Petrified Time.
