Lithuanian embassy in the UK celebrates Independence day
On February 13, 2014 the Lithuanian Embassy in London invited foreign diplomats as well as British politicians and business people to mark the 96th anniversary of the restoration of the Lithuanian statehood.
Together with the representatives of the UK Lithuanian community, they had a unique opportunity to get familiar with the country’s history and culture while bilateral UK-Lithuania relations were discussed in informal surroundings.
“Last year we assumed the Presidency of the Council of the EU. This year we sit as members of the UN Security Council. Needless to say, we are living through a very proud moment of our history”, the Ambassador told participants.
Lithuanians will continue to celebrate their Independence Day on Sunday. The religious service at St. Kazimieras church is scheduled at noon while all Lithuanians expected to get together later that day.
