Lithuanian Days in Northern Ireland
Lithuanian Embassy in United Kingdom and Lithuanian Association of Northern Ireland (LASA) would like to invite everyone to participate at the events of „Lithuanian Days in Northern Ireland“, which will take place April 25-27, 2008 in the towns of Lisburn, Dungannon and Armagh.
According to Ambassador Ušackas, the purpose of this event, which is organized second year in a row, is to introduce the inhabitants of Northern Ireland to Lithuanian art, music, rich basketball tradition and in such a way to contribute to mutual understanding as well as creation of a safer environment for Lithuanian citizens in Northern Ireland.
„Lithuanian Days in Nothern Ireland“ will commence on April 25th, Friday, with an art exhibit in Lisburn. Mayor James Tinsley and Ambassador Vygaudas Ušackas will meet and greet the guests. There will be a concert and a small reception as well.
Next day, Saturday, there will be a question-answer session in the town of Dungannon to discuss various issues concerning Lithuanian community, including incidents of attacks against Lithuanians, last of which occurred April 19th 2008 in Cookstowne of Nothern Ireland.
Same day, in Dungannon, there will be also a basketball tournament, where Lithuanian and Irish teams will be competing for Ambassador‘s Cup.
Saturday evening everyone is invited to town of Armagh, to the beautiful St. Patrick‘s Cathedral, for the Mass, celebrated by Fr. Egidijus Arnašius from Dublin.
Afterwards there will be a reception at St. Patrick‘s Grammer School hosted by Fr. Kevin Donaghy.
