There was an old custom in Lithuania during the feasts to take a jar of homemade beer to one’s closest friends and neighbours. That’s why beer in Lithuania was always recognised as a symbol of warm and close relations.

We present Švyturys, the oldest brewery in Lithuania, tracing its history back to 1784

“Švyturys” - pronounced”Shveet-i-rees” and means “lighthouse”.

The brewery was founded in Lithuanian city-port Klaipeda, hence name Lighthouse.

The main brewing style is German, and yes, we adhere to Germany Purity Law. This means there are no artificial flavours, preservatives or nasty E-numbers added. The beer is a natural product, containing of 5 main components entirely from the beginning to the end of the brewing process. These are – beer yeast, bitter aromatic hop, malted barley, rice and fresh water. If you’re wondering about the rice – it’s quite a common ingredient, to help the beer to mach up to food.

Steady industries growth, international recognition, expanding export, creation of new brands such as extremely successful brands in draught category, non-alcohol beer, rediscovery of wheat beer… Our priority is highest quality so-called premium segment beer as well as continuous quality assurance.
