Lithuanian armed forces day celebrated in London
On 23 November, 2015 the Lithuanian Embassy in London invited British politicians and military personnel as well as foreign diplomats and representatives of the UK’s Lithuanian community to mark Lithuanian armed forces day. The reception at the Embassy presented another opportunity to underscore an increasing cooperation between Lithuanian and HM armed forces.
“Lithuania and the UK are strong NATO allies standing shoulder to shoulder and ready to meet security challenges of today. The RAF Typhoons have been patrolling over the Baltic sky for the past 10 years. In the near future we expect British troops to be deployed in Lithuania in the form persistent presence. Lithuania and the UK in cooperation with the partner states are developing the Joint Expeditionary Force”, the Lithuanian Ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė said.
On 23 November 1918 the Prime Minister of Lithuania Augustinas Voldemaras signed the decree No. 1 giving legal basis for formation of the Armed Forces of Lithuania.
