April 29th, 2015 the Lithuanian Ambassador to the UK Asta Skaisgirytė paid a working visit to Edinburgh. The visit began with a range of meetings with a view to discuss Lithuanian participation at the '2016 Scotland's Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design’ events. In this regard Ambassador Skaisgirytė met with Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs, Rt Hon Donald Wilson, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, as well as Iain Connelly, President of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland. The Lithuanian diplomat confirmed the readiness of Vilnius to take part at the prestigious World Cities Expo event which will take place in Edinburgh in 2016.

“Inclusion in the Cities Expo is limited to 20 selected cities only. The fact that Vilnius has been invited to be among them is an acknowledgment to Lithuanian architects, a great example of cultural cooperation between Scottish and Lithuanian capital cities”, the Lithuanian Ambassador noted.

The diplomat’s visit to Scotland also included a talk at the University of Edinburgh. The ambassador delivered a public lecture titled ’New Security Challenges in Northern Europe’  which was followed by the informal discussion with Lithuanians living and studying in Edinburgh.
