On 21 – 22 May the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Kazys Starkevičius and his delegation visited London where the Minister met with Ms. Caroline Spelman, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, participated in the informal discussion with the members of Royal Agricultural College (RAC) Club 100, and delivered a welcome speech in the event “Success stories” where he also met the members of the Lithuanian community.
As the Lithuanian ambassador to the UK, Dr Oskaras Jusys, noted, the round table discussion, which was organised by the Embassy together with RAC Club 100 Chairman Mr. Peel H Holroyd, was very relevant and indeed successful. Among the attendees there were leaders from various biggest agricultural and food companies and organisations in the UK, as well as Lord Stafford and Mr. Holroyd. “I am positive that the rector of Antantas Stulginskis university, general managers of “Krekenavos agrofirma”, “Arvi”, and “Zemaitijos pienas”, as well as the directors of vegetables producers and sheep growers associations found this meeting highly useful”, said the Ambassador.
In his speech to the members of the discussion the Minister introduced the latest achievements of the agriculture and food sector in Lithuania to the notable guests from RAC Club 100 and invited both delegations to strengthen the Lithuanian – UK cooperation in these fields. “Lithuania is a country open for ideas, trade and investment”, noted the Minister.
The Minister and his delegation also visited the Royal Agricultural College and discussed the possible collaboration opportunities with its Principal Mr. Chis Gaskell.
