LITHUANIA IS WELCOMED AT THE LONDON PARALYMPIC GAMES

A colorful and inspiring ceremony was full of poetry, music and dancing; the athletes and the guests were greeted by the Deputy Mayor of the Paralympic village. Before the Lithuanian flag was hoisted, the Lithuanian delegation leader, Mr Gintaras Zavadckis presented the symbolic gift from Lithuania. The ceremony was watched by the Lithuanian delegation and the representatives from the Lithuanian Embassy in the United Kingdom as well journalists from the local Lithuanian press.
After the official part was over, Mr Zavadckis presented symbolic medals for all eleven Lithuanian athletes who will be competing in goalball, athetics and swimming.
The Paralympic Games open on Wednesday, 29 August, and they will be the biggest ever featuring more than 4,200 athletes from 166 countries who will compete in 20 sports including; Archery, Athletics, Boccia, Cycling Road, Cycling Track, Equestrian, Football 5-a-side, Football 7-a-side, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby, and Wheelchair Tennis.
