LAUNCH OF THREE BALTIC CDs
On the 5th of June 2007 HE Mr Vygaudas Ušackas, Ambassador of Lithuania, Toccata Classics and the Embassies of Latvia and Estonia are hosting the launch of a ‘Baltic triple’:
three CDs of music by three Baltic composers — Pēteris Plakidis (b. 1947), with Pēteris Vasks the Latvian composer best known on the international stage; the Lithuanian radical Vytautas Bacevičius (1905—70), one of the major undiscovered creative voices of the twentieth century; and Ester Mägi (b. 1922), the ‘First Lady of Estonian music’ who celebrated her 85th birthday earlier this year.
