Kęstutis Vaiginis Quartet at 606

14-15 February, 2012. One of the most skilful and elegant Lithuanian jazz bands – Kęstutis Vaiginis Quartet – will tour in London in the middle of February, playing several private and public gigs in the East End Charlie Wright’s and 606 Club, Chelsea.

Award winning saxophonist Kestutis Vaiginis is renowned in his native Lithuania for his clear, delicate and lyrical style. He has studied extensively at prestigious schools around the world (the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Amsterdam School of Arts and the Manhattan School of Music) gaining an international fan base for his work as a performer and composer as he travelled. He is a winner of various national and international competitions, last year winning the “Birštonas Jazz Festival 2010” award for his contribution to Lithuanian jazz. His great band features award-winning pianist Dmitrij Golovanov, Eugenijus Kanevičius on bass and drummer Marijus Aleksa.

The gig at 606 Club is generously supported by the Lithuanian Embassy. It is part of an ongoing “European Exchange” initiative promoted by the 606 Club to provide a platform for some of the finest European musicians.
