FIRM REBUFF TO PSEUDO PATRIOTISM
Today, 14.02.2013, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mr Algirdas Butkevičius, in his radio interview to Lithuanian radio station programme „Position“ reinforced the need to ensure that the celebrations of the Lithuanian Independence Day on the 16th February are not used as an opportunity to spread unrest and national enmity. “I can say frankly and very clearly to those seeking or trying to impart our common Independence celebration with signs of separatism, exaggerated self-importance or even national revenge - in the name of the Government we warn you not to pursue this. I can ensure and consolidate, that now and in the future, resolute rebuff will be given to those unwilling to understand, what damage to Lithuania various attempts to manipulate patriotism, perpetrating anti-Semitic and other sentiments aimed at stirring enmity between the nations cause”, said the Prime Minister during his interview.
