EUROPEAN COMPETITIVENESS DISCUSSED BY LONDON BASED EU AMBASSADORS
Today the Ambassador of Lithuania Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė hosted EU Ambassadors meeting with the Rt. Hon. David Willetts, UK Minister of State for Universities and Science. The event was organised during the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU before the EU Competitiveness Council meeting in Brussels on 27th September 2013.
Ambassador of Lithuanian stressed that research and innovation are critical for the growth, competitiveness and job creation. “It is very important to make progress in creating the European research area, innovation friendly business environment and strengthening links among the European research institutions and universities” in her welcoming speech said Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė.
Minister David Willets pointed out that there is an agreement among the EU ministers on innovation and research policy. Innovation in public sector, functioning of the European research area and access to finance for innovative companies are one of the most important issues to be discussed in Brussels. “I strongly believe in a success of the European research area” said the Minister.
