Documentary on freedom fighters launches celebrations of the 25 anniversary of re-establishment of independence of Lithuania in the UK
On 9th March, 2015 the Lithuanian Embassy in London invited to a screening of the documentary The Invisable Front. The film that depicts the story behind the 1944-1953 Lithuanian partisan movement launched the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of re-establishment of independence of Lithuania. The guests gathered at the Cinema Hall of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London were also presented with a unique opportunity to meet the film's co-director Jonas Ohman. The Sweden-born producer joined the Q/A session which followed the screening.
“As we saw today, even in the darkest days of the Communist rule the Lithuanians did not stop believing in freedom. Our belief peaked in March,1990 when Lithuania declared the re-establishment of its independence. Today we can look back and be proud of what we have achieved as a nation, as an independent state”, the Lithuanian ambassador to the UK Asta Skaisgitytė Liauškienė said.
The Lithuanian Community in the UK is set to continue the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of independence.
