DOCUMENTARY FILM ON BELARUS "THE SQUARE"

A documentary film The Square was directed by Yury Khashchavatski who is well known documentalist in Belarus and other European countries. The Square studies the backgrounds of the protests which took place in the central square of Minsk in March, 2006.
This film is based on actual events in the centre of Minsk during the presidential elections. It precisely reflects the realities of contemporary Belarus. The Square is the film about the conscious youth of Belarus, about their ideals, aims and faith in better future. According to the director, the main purpose of this film is to explain why the Belorussians went to the central square of Minsk and how they were expressing their opinion, thoughts and ideas.
