CONGRATULATIONS TO HONORARY CONSUL OF LITHUANIA
The Embassy of Lithuania congratulates Keith Reginald Stokes-Smith, Honorary Consul of Lithuania in west Midlands on his new appointment to the Commonwealth Association of Birmingham City Council.
Birmingham City Council, the UK's second city, has launched an international strategy to promote and focus Birmingham's business, education, local government, cultural and other interests abroad with a view to building the city's global competitiveness and influence. The strategy has a number of Priorities and Ambitions relating to jobs and growth, enhancing infrastructure, creating engaged and cohesive communities, knowledge and innovation, attracting visitors, trade and investment.
An International Committee has been established to oversee the strategic direction for the strategy supported by four 'Area Focused Associations' to cover North and South America, China and the Far East, Europe, and the Commonwealth countries. Keith Stokes-Smith, Lithuania’s Consul in the West Midlands, has been appointed Chairman of the Commonwealth Association and will also attend meetings of the Europe Association. The associations will aim to bring together all key stakeholders with a specific geographical interest and facilitate the better joining up and co-ordination of the aims and actions outlined in the strategy.
