COMPOSER LINAS BALTAS AND MUSICIAN LAURYNA SABLEVICIUTE AT PENINSULA ARTS 2014 FESTIVAL
The Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Festival, one of the most important platforms in the UK that is helping to pave the way for the music of the future, with this year's festival theme Thinking Music invites composers and performers to take risks, to venture into the unknown, and audiences to actively listen, open their minds and emotions to the unheard, and engage in the debates. Among the international group of participants, the festival’s audience will have an opportunity to hear Linas Baltas’s composition AIR – a unique work for two string orchestras. The piece aims to sound fresh and enjoyable musically, whilst containing elements of conceptual and technical novelty in the transformation, concatenation, and synthesis which takes part in the "air" between the two orchestras. Another Lithuanian participant Lauryna Sableviciute (piano) will play concerts with Ten Tors Orchestra in both the Saturday and Sunday programmes. When: Friday-Sunday, 7-9 February 2014 Where: Roland Lewinsky Building, Plymouth University, Devon PL4 8AA.
