THE BRITISH-LITHUANIAN SOCIETY Invites you to meet: Evelina Puzaitė winner of the Abstract Securities Landor Competition at the piano, to launch of her latest CD “Moments Musicaux” Monday, 8th October 2007 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm Estonian House, 18 Chepstow Villas, London W11 2RB

 

Evelina Puzaitė has performed in London at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore and Cadogan Halls. As a recitalist and concert soloist she has played in Belarus, Britain, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, USA and other countries. Recent international festival appearances include Festival di Londra, Italy, and Presteigne, Wales.

Evelina was born in Vilnius. Her musical training was at the M.K.Čiurlionis School of Arts, followed by the Lithuanian Music Academy. In April 2001 she was awarded a Baltic States Scholarship to study under Prof. Joan Havill at London’s Guildhall School Music and Drama. She has participated in many international competitions and has won numerous awards, including: 1st Prize at the International Rubinstein Piano Competition (Paris), 1st Prize in Tel-Hai Competition (Israel), 2nd Prize at the Dudley Piano Competition, the Craxton Memorial Trust Award, and a Philharmonia Orchestra/Martin Musical Scholarship. She was a prize winner at the Oxford Music Festival, “Usedomer” in Germany, and the International Piano Music Festival in Belarus. In 2006 she won the Abstract Securities Landor Competition for emerging new talents.

Evelina’s new CD, featuring works by Kodály, Čiurlionis, Liszt and Rachmaninov (Landor Records LAN281) will be available for purchase at the launch.
