This is an English language translation of the fascinating biography of Lithuanian aviator, Flight Lieutenant Romuladas Marcinkus (1907-1944) who served as a Hurricane pilot in the British Royal Air Force. Captured by the Germans, he was one of the men who took part in the “The Great Escape”, immortalised in the book by Paul Brickhill, and in the subsequent film. Sadly, he, along with many of the escapees, was captured and executed by the Gestapo.
