Battle of Orsha to be commemorated at the Embassy

‘Central Europe defeated Eastern Europe at the Battle of Orsha in 1514’, some historians tend to argue. Did those two geopolitical entities really clash 500 ago?

How should the victory by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania over the Muscovite forces be perceived in a broader comparative perspective? What consequences would the battle bring to the entire region? All these questions will be discussed by 4 distinguished academics in Valdas Rakutis (Military Academy of Lithuania), Robert Frost (University of Aberdeen), Giedė Mickūnaitė (Vilnius Academy of Arts) and Darius Baronas (Lithuanian Institute of History) on September 11 at 7 PM. The moderator of the talk - former British Ambassador to Lithuania HE Simon Butt. Full programme here.
