Ambassador visits Birmingham

23 September, 2016. The Lithuanian Ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė paid a working visit to Birmingham, Midlands. The visit began at the Birmingham City Council where the Lithuanian Diplomat met BCC Deputy Leader Ian Ward. Cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Birmingham was further discussed at the meeting with Ray Hassall, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham.

During her visit the Ambassador also met with Stephen Maddock, the Chief Executive of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and opened the solo exhibition of the Lithuanian artist Žilvinas Kempinas at IKON Gallery.

“I see great opportunities for cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Birmingham. We are planning a joint venture with CBSO in 2018, the year when Lithuania will be celebrating its centenary as the Republic”, Ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė said.

Before returning to London, the diplomat met with the Lithuanian Community living in Birmingham.
