Ambassador presents credentials to Sultan of Oman

On April 24, 2014 the Lithuanian Ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė presented her Letter of Credence to Sultan Qaboos.

The diplomat’s visit to Muscat provided a good opportunity to further facilitate bilateral Lithuania-Oman cooperation. “Lithuania’s partnership with Oman is gathering pace. The countries are working on handful of new agreements in the fields of economy, education and culture. We hope to sign treaties that facilitate investment and allow to avoid double taxation in the very near future”, the Lithuanian Ambassador noted.

Sultan Qaboos emphasized the importance of preservation of the national identities in the XXI c. for both Oman and Lithuania. In this regard, the parties agreed that the mutual cooperation in cultural and educational domains is necessary.

The Lithuanian ICT sector has particularly good opportunities to establish itself in the Omani market.

The bilateral political consultations are set to continue in June in Vilnius.

Lithuania and the Sultanate of Oman established diplomatic relations in 1992.
