Ambassador of Lithuania visits Royal Tunbridge Wells
On February 19th Ambassador Vygaudas Usackas visited Royal Tunbridge Wells. He was received at the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council by the Chief Executive Mrs. Sheila Wheeler and several members of the Borough Council. During the meeting Ambassador and Royal Tunbridge Wells Council representatives discussed the possibility to establish partnership link with one of the Lithuanian city. Both sides emphasized that Lithuanian workers in the Borough contribute to the local economy and may play an important role of promoting relationship between Royal Tunbridge Wells and one of Lithuania’s city.
Ambassador Vygaudas Usackas also addressed the Tunbridge Wells Twinning and Friendship Association on the subject of “Lithuania: Living with Russia as a Neighbour”. He shared the experiences of Lithuania in its relationships with Russia and talked about his expedition with a young Lithuanians in the summer of 2007 to search for the graves of the hundreds of thousand of Lithuanians deported to Siberia by Stalin.
