AMBASSADOR ADDRESSED THE BRITISH-LITHUANIAN SOCIETY AGM
On 4th June 2013, Ambassador of Lithuania welcomed members of the British-Lithuanian Society at their Annual General Meeting, held at the Embassy.
The Society aims to promote cultural, educational and business ties between individuals and organisations in the United Kingdom and Lithuania. The Ambassador of Lithuania stressed the value of multifaceted links between the people of Lithuania and the UK and encouraged the British-Lithuanian Society to continue to strengthen and grow. “I would like to thank you for the work you have done so far and invite you to take advantage of the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the EU to boost membership and visibility of the BLS”, said Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė.
The Society enjoys support from a broad membership with a wide range of backgrounds and interests. The members include professional people in fields such as business, banking, the law, medicine, academia and the arts, as well as private individuals who are interested in learning more about Lithuania.
The British-Lithuanian Society was founded in 1994. The President of the society of The Right Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind is the President of the Society and the former British Ambassador to Lithuania Jeremy Hill is its Chairperson.
