6th Litvak Days focus on Jewish Languages

01/12/2016. 30 November – December 1 the Lithuanian Embassy in the UK in cooperation with University College London invited to the annual Litvak days in London.  

The programme of the 6th Litvak Days included an evening of Yiddish songs performed by Polina Shepherd at University College London and a conference on Jewish languages (Yiddish & Hebrew) in the Lithuanian context held at the Embassy of Lithuania.

“Lithuania puts a lot effort to promote and preserve the rich heritage of Lithuanian Jews. We regard the Litvak days’ events in London as a platform which facilitates cultural links between the UK’s British, Lithuanian and Jewish communities”, the Lithuanian Ambassador Asta Skaisgirytė said.

The 6th Litvak days in London were attended by Mr Jonathan Arkush, the President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Ms Faina Kukliansky, the President of the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community, HE Arkady Rzegocki, Ambassador of Poland. Mr Dainius Junevičius, Ambassador-at-Large conveyed the message of congratulations from the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Linas Linkevičius.
